Abstract

It is with profound satisfaction, accompanied by a renewed sense of responsibility, that I announce the indexing of the *Annals of Stomatology* in Scopus. This milestone signifies much more than a technical or editorial achievement; it represents the acknowledgment of a long, rigorous, and coherent scientific trajectory, deeply rooted in the history of Italian dental research. As documented by the National Library of Medicine, the publication of the *Annals of Stomatology* commenced in 1959. From its inception, the journal has positioned itself as a credible platform for the dissemination and scientific examination within the field of dentistry. Over the decades, it has undergone various evolutionary phases, consistently aiming to provide an authoritative publication venue that fosters dialogue among diverse schools of thought, adheres to rigorous editorial processes, and adequately represents the discourse of Italian clinical and experimental research. Recently, the *Annali di Stomatologia* has achieved a significant enhancement in quality, including the standardization of peer review processes, transition to open access, internationalization of language and content, digitalization of publications, and greater alignment with international editorial criteria.Inclusion in Scopus facilitates a notable increase in the visibility of published works. Bibliometric analyses indicate that newly indexed journals experience an average 80% rise in views and online consultations within the first 12 to 18 months, particularly via prominent academic search engines. Amid a landscape where digital dissemination is essential for the circulation of scientific knowledge, this heightened exposure amplifies the opportunities for impact and dissemination of content. The traceability of publications and their integration into primary international research networks yield clear benefits regarding citations. Articles published in journals indexed in Scopus demonstrate, according to estimates, an average increase of 70-90% in citations within the first two years. This data holds direct implications for individual scientific evaluation (H-index, ASN, career advancement) and enhances the competitiveness of Italian researchers on the international stage. The inclusion of an Italian dental journal in the Scopus database reinforces the national scientific community’s position within the biomedical sector. We now provide universities, IRCCS, research institutions, and emerging scholars with a recognized, open-access, peer-reviewed scientific platform that harmonizes editorial tradition with international standards. This situation also represents a tangible opportunity to enhance local research in the context of international evaluative criteria. The achievement of this milestone would not have been possible without the expert guidance and foresight of the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Gianluca Gambarini. His unwavering commitment, meticulous focus on editorial quality, and acute understanding of the scientific community’s needs have enabled the journal to embark on a credible path toward international recognition. My sincerest gratitude is extended to him.Indexing in Scopus does not symbolize a conclusion; instead, it marks the commencement of a new phase. This phase is characterized by the responsibility to uphold and further enhance the journal’s standards, while also aiming to solidify its role within the global editorial landscape. In this regard, the *Annali di Stomatologia* has proactively initiated the evaluation process by Web of Science, with outcomes anticipated in 2025. Any inclusion in this additional database will further substantiate the journal’s legitimacy and impact. I am confident that, rooted in our historical legacy and equipped with the competencies we have acquired, we will confront the forthcoming editorial challenges with determination and rigor. The future of the *Annali di Stomatologia* is now more promising than ever
